The world's leading calcium carbide supplier.

TYWH: Global Specialist in Safe Calcium Carbide Supply for Acetylene

Safe calcium carbide supply for acetylene plants, with checked packaging and coordinated deliveries.

TYWH has worked in calcium carbide since 2007. Our plant is in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia, where we prepare material for customers with different size and packing requirements. For an acetylene producer, the conversation with us can start with a specification, a planned delivery date, or a question about the steel drums.

All three belong in the same order. A good gas yield is useful to the plant, but the material also has to arrive in a condition that the customer can receive and store appropriately. Getting there involves quite a few decisions, some made well before filling starts.

Before a price becomes an order

There is a difference between asking for calcium carbide and specifying the material for a particular generator. The latter gives us much more to work with.

The required particle size is a useful starting point. TYWH supplies several sizes, with customization available, so there is room to discuss the grade the customer needs. A change of supplier is a good occasion to review the size requirement with the production team instead of relying on a description carried over from an old purchase order.

Gas yield belongs in that discussion too. A figure on a quotation needs a testing basis behind it. Ask for that basis when comparing offers. You can then put the quotation beside the analysis information and see whether the figures describe the same thing. A number without its test details leaves too much to guess.

We'd also like to know the destination and delivery requirement at this stage. These affect the shipment arrangements. Adding the packing requirement gives both sides a much clearer description of the order than a product name and a price alone.

The steel drum has a job to do

Our standard export packing options are 50 kg, 100 kg steel drums and steel drums with open lid. Choosing between them involves the customer's receiving arrangements as well as the quantity to be shipped. The people who unload and handle the drums are worth including in that decision.

For calcium carbide, a steel drum does much more than hold a measured quantity of product. It forms part of the protection against moisture.

The reason for keeping carbide dry is its reaction with water. That reaction gives off flammable acetylene. A generator is built to use it; a shipment needs protection against it happening along the way. This is a point to carry through the packing and storage discussions.

We use nitrogen during filling at TYWH. We also have personnel assigned to inspect drum seals. They are separate parts of preparing the package. Afterward, keeping the closure intact still matters, as does keeping moisture away. The nitrogen filling step cannot do those jobs for the rest of the journey.

The drum leaves our filling line, but its journey is only beginning. It still needs to be loaded, taken to port, shipped, and eventually unloaded at the customer's end. There may be storage periods along the way as well. Packaging condition matters along the whole route. Agreeing on the drum size and markings early gives the receiving team fewer details to resolve later.

Behind the packed quantity

There are eight automated filling production lines at our Wuhai base. Product inspection takes place alongside the filling work. The checks cover gas yield and size, as well as impurities, weight, and the package itself.

There is a reason for having several checks. Screening controls the size supplied. With test results available, the customer has product information to put alongside the specification agreed for the order. Weighing checks what goes into the drum. A seal inspection then concerns the condition in which that material will leave the filling process.

It's worth looking at the working environment as well. TYWH's safety arrangements include acetylene concentration monitoring and daily inspections. We train employees regularly and hold emergency drills, too. If you're reviewing TYWH as a supplier, ask us to explain how this work is organized. We're happy to discuss it as part of a factory or supply review.

Information that travels with the order

The order may be placed by purchasing and received by someone else altogether. We therefore encourage customers to share the shipment information with their receiving team. That team needs time to prepare, and its questions are better raised before the cargo turns up.

TYWH makes the Safety Data Sheet and Certificate of Analysis available to customers. For safety information, start with the SDS. For the product's analysis information, look at the COA. Having both available helps the customer's team prepare its review of the material and the arrangements for handling it.

Our service team follows the order and its shipping progress. If packing photos or video would help with your internal review, ask us before packing takes place. We can arrange them as part of the order service. That is a small request that is easier to accommodate when it is made early.

The documentation needed for transport also deserves an early discussion. Destination and shipment arrangements have to be considered together with the applicable dangerous goods requirements. We encourage customers to tell us their document needs while the order is being planned, so questions can be addressed before dispatch.

Room for the next delivery

The customer's consumption rate is only one part of a replenishment plan. The amount of suitable storage space available at the plant matters too. A delivery has to fit the site that receives it, even when the purchasing team would prefer to hold more stock.

For regular orders, sharing the expected timing of the next purchase helps us plan with the customer. A change in demand can then be discussed while there is still room to adjust the order or shipment schedule. We want this conversation to be useful to the production team as well as to purchasing.

If you're considering TYWH for your acetylene plant, send us the particle size and gas yield requirement first. Add the quantity, destination, and date you have in mind. We'll work through the product, packing, and shipment details with you.
